Frequently asked questions

What macOS versions are supported?

Verscout requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

What happens after the 21-day trial?

Verscout continues to scan and show all your packages, but update actions are disabled until you purchase a license. Your data is never deleted.

Does Verscout collect or send my data?

All scanning happens locally on your Mac. The only network requests are version lookups against official registries (PyPI, npm, Homebrew) and license validation via LemonSqueezy. No telemetry, no analytics, no tracking. Your app inventory never leaves your machine.

Can I use my license on multiple Macs?

Each single-user license activates on one Mac. If you have multiple machines, choose the 3-Mac plan. You can deactivate a license on one machine and transfer it to another at any time.

How does one-click update work?

Verscout runs the appropriate package manager command (brew upgrade, pip install --upgrade, etc.) behind the scenes. For operations that require admin access, a secure macOS password prompt appears.

What package managers does Verscout support?

Homebrew (formulae and casks), pip, npm, Mac App Store (via mas), Setapp, Adobe Creative Cloud, JetBrains Toolbox, Microsoft Office, Docker, 1Password, Steam, and standalone apps not managed by any package manager.
